Welcome to Sofia's lil SpaceVERY PROUD MOM OF MY U.S. MARINE !! October 20 Mikey pulled in from Iraq on Sept 23rd!Mikey arrived in Twentynine Palms, California on Sept 23rd @ 4pm. It was the happiest time!! We all so missed him...We all had t-shirts on that read..."Sleep well america Lcpl. Tarin has your back" With a sign that read "Mike was Tarin it up in Iraq" It was a great time for alot of proud parents and family members. Love you Mikey and i am so glad that you and all the other Marines made it home safe and sound!! May 25 Very nice surprise!!!I got this very nice surprise on Monday!! I went to www.suicidecharley.com website and under messages to home MAP PLT there was Mikey holding up this white board with a message to me! I cried tears of happiness! I was so overwhelmed that i went to work crying most of my shift. I miss my son so much and to see how healthy and happy he looks compared to the other Marines, made my day! Mikey said it is getting really hot over there, but other then that he is doing good! Thank the Lord! I cannot wait for Sept, thats when he will be safe and sound at home where he belongs...Please keep Mikey and other service men in your prayers. Thank you! April 14 My life compared to others!Today is my Friday, but i think about my son and how he is sacrificing not only his life, but also being deprived of sleep, decent food, shower. He is the one that keeps me working. I get my strength from him.. I have heard from him, he sounds like he is use to only four to five hours of sleep a day and being able to shower once every two weeks. He said he much rather be doing what he is doing then being a nobody with no direction! I so agree Mikey! I am the proudest mom alive! The "shack" they live in is dried mud with rocks in it, rocky dirt floor, there is no running water, they potty in a tube that they dug a whole and put in the ground, they pooh in plastic bags that gets burn in barrels. He eats MRE's for breakfast lunch and sometimes eats a regular meal for dinner, for Mike living large is being able to eat like you and i do for breakfast, lunch and dinner and being able to shower everyday, he gets to "live large" every two weeks. He will soon be getting a promotion to Lcpl. He is the team leader for his platoon. His platoon got put as a "MAP" Its a mobile assault platoon. Mike is a commander for a HM1123 hummve. He controls navigation for his driver and tell his gunner when and where to shoot. There is a 50. cal machine gun on his hummvee. He gets to see all over western Iraq. I have posted some picture's that i got developed. Please keep Mikey in your prayers! He also is very grateful for the packages he has received from his loving family & friends! God bless you all! This will be the very first Easter Mikey will not spend with us, but he will still get his easter basket.  As Mike said in his letter when you think your life is bad, there is always someone out there that has it WORSE then you.March 22 Got a call from Mikey on Monday the 20th!!I was so so happy to hear from Mikey, it was a great delight just like music to my ears to hear his voice!, he called at 8pm. He sounded really super tired, it was 8am over there in Iraq. He said he was doing good doesn't get alot of sleep, very busy. He already sent home a disposible camera for me to get developed, i can't wait to see them! I will be sure to post them on this site and also my myspace site i have up. I just wanted to thank all my friends and family that have been so super supportive of my son and I, it means so much to know that there are ALOT of people that care. Hugs, Sofia March 05 Off to warWell Mikey is off to war...I spoke with him thursday the 2nd. His spirits seems to be good, he said he wasn't nervous like he thought he would be, which made me feel relieved. I had a really nice time with my family and Son for the ten days i was over there. Thank you Rick & Julie for opening up your home to us and everything you both do for us, its means so much! I wanted to thank Mindy as well for being there for Mike and everything you done for the both of us as well. I love you all! I would like to ask everyone to please keep Mikey and my family in your prayers and all the troops that are out in Iraq with my son serving our country. I have posted some pictures of us well out in southern California, hope you enjoy....I will be posting more updates on Mike as i am updated. We love and miss you very much Mike! Come home to us safe.

Huge hugs, Sofia January 30 Change of plans!!!Mikey will be coming home for predeployment leave! He will arrive in Sacramento, California Feb 4th this coming Saturday. He will get to be with us until Feb 14th. HURRAY!!! Can't wait to see him. We are alll so excited to see you Mikey Saturday is not coming soon enough! Then i will be flying out to be with Mike before he leaves to Iraq and my sisters on Feb 17th till the 27th....Can't wait! We'll miss you Mikey! We love you and are so very proud!
January 16 Predeployment leaveHello everyone!
I was hoping they would give Mike predeployment leave, but they have canceled all leave. I was very bummed out! So then i started thinking about trying to get out to Southern California to see him before he gets deployed on March 1st.
 Times are always tough for us in the winter months, cuz work slows down for Art. God always finds a way for me, he always comes through! I wanted to say THANK YOU to my friend Tammy Martin that has been good to me, she purchased a round trip ticket for me to go be with my son and family before Mike's deployment. Tammy thank you again, you have no idea how much that means to me! I love you girl! So Mikey i will be on my way!!! HURRAY!!!!!!! It is going to be a hard trip for me to take, having to say bye for now to my son. I know that you will come home safe, just know i am so so very proud of you and always know i am here for you and that i love you with all my heart and soul! Please keep Mike in your prayers! December 31 Happy New Year!!Hello everyone and Happy New Year!
I hope everyone has a happy & prosperous New year!! I had such a nice visit with my son Mikey and mom. It was real AWESOME! Mkey went back on Friday 30th. I already miss him so much. I have posted new pictures up to share with everyone! Mikey has a new female friend Chelsea, i do have to say she is very pretty, nice and loves my dogs!
 The only down fall about this hoilday is...we have been having bad storms! Our lake is going to flood here pretty quick. There are some places around the lake that has already flooded. Today Art and i took my mom and her friend to Napa, Ca. "The wine country" of Northern California, in spite of the yucky weather and flooding, today was a beautiful sunny day! We had wine and cheese! It was pretty fun! We had bought some for tonight as well so we can celebrate the New Year!  Hope you are having a fun time Mikey and Happy New Year to you too and please know that i love you with all my heart and will see you in Feb when you come out once again before you deploy, so i can give you a huge hug and kiss. December 09 Heard from Pfc. TarinMike got a promotion on December 1st. He is now Pfc. Tarin!!! W2G Mikey
 ...you so deserve the title! He is real sick with pneumonia, he had a bad night last night...high fever, vomiting, nightmares.  I hope you get to feeling better soon Mikey! He is on his way to 29 Palms with his unit, hes in the 4th platoon..Charlie Co. He is not with his "bros" Williamson, Mclean or Holland they are in a different platoon. He got the heads up to come home on December 16th. He has to return January 2nd. He will then start his Urban training. I am so so excited, i want nothing in this world for Christmas, but to see all my kids together. I guess before Mike went to boot i took my kids for granted, knowing they will always be with me, now its so much different. My kids are my pride and joy, can't live without them! Its hard and just when i think i am excepting the fact that Mike is doing what he always wanted to do, it hits me hard and i can't handle the fact he is going to be deployed, time is just flying by too fast. I guess you can say i have my up and down days "emotional rollercoaster ride" not fun, not fun at all. Just know i am so excited to see you Mikey!!! You can come home rest and get better. I love you son!!Today is Mikey's big day!!!Today is graduation day for Mikey and his brother's @ school of infantry, Camp Pendleton, Ca. I just want to say Congratulation MIKEY!!! We are so very proud you and all you have accomplished well in USMC so far. Please know you are not alone, i think of you all time. I miss going out for lunch and taking our food to vista point to eat and being able to visit together. Hopefully you will hurry and call to let me know you are coming home soon. I love you and just know i am a very proud mom!

December 06 Awesome news!!!I got a call from my mom today and she and her good friend Betty are coming to be with us for Christmas!! They are going to fly out on Decemeber 21st and stay till January 3rd. I am so glad cuz then she will be able to spend time with Mikey for a week, well he is here visiting before he gets sent to Syria.
 I am sure Mikey will be really pleased to see his granny goose, as pleased and excited as i am!!! Man my Christmas couldn't get any better!! Haven't seen mom since October 2002. I miss her! well enough blabbing on...I will keep everyone posted when Mikey will be here and take massive pictures and post them up, i am gonna try and get a picture of my family with my mom in there! December 04 SOI Graduation Dec 9th!!!I heard from Mikey this weekend and he graduates school of infantry Dec 9th...He will be sent with fleet 1/7 to 29 Palms, right after graduation. He said he gets to come home, December 19th through Jan 2nd. I am so so so happy!!! That made my weekend!! I miss you Mikey!! How exciting is that!! The only down fall is, he will be deploying to Syria on March 1st.
I know God will protect my son on his journey to protect and serve his country!! I am so proud of you Mike...You're our HERO!! He sounded pretty excited, but he said when he comes home hes not going back...i laughed and said sorry Mikey you have to...he was just joking even though deep in his heart he probably feels that way, cuz he misses his family so much! He has his brothers with him that he grew so close to. As a matter of fact they will be with him at 29 Palms and deploy with him....Like Josh Williamson, Jesse Mclean, Tim Holland. Those are his true bros and i am so glad that he will be with them! It makes me feel better he will be with them! Please keep our young Marines, all our troops in your prayers, it means so much! Huge hugs & love to you Mikey, November 27 MIKE GOT A TATTOO!!!!!!OMG-I was in such denial when i found out Mikey got a tattoo. I didn't believe him, LOL. Then when he went to his aunt and Uncles house "Rick & Julie" for thanksgiving i asked Christina to take a picture of his tattoo and she did on her cell phone...Its NICE Mikey! I didn't approve but LOVE it and i just might have to get one, heheheeee. When i seen that tattoo, i said Mikey you didn't ask permission, his reply was from who? and i said me your mom, he said mom....i get enough orders from the CORPS. I said you know what son...i owned you for 18 years now your owned by the CORPS, i will leave you alone. I love that kid so much! Hes my HERO! I love all my kids with all my heart...they mean everything to me!!

Just wanted to wish each and everyone of you a Very Happy Thanksgiving!! Enjoy your families and have fun!! I am preping for my stuffing so i can stuff my turkey and bake it tomorrow morning! I am looking forward to cooking this huge feast, LOL. I just wish all my kids was with me...I love you Mikey, i hope you have a awesome four days with the family, you deserve it!

November 17 I got Mikey's picture from SOI training!!!I got the disk of Mikey's picture's that he sent me yesturday!!! I have been meaning to post them, but i have been down in the dumps, can't seem to shake it. This week has been the pits for me! but hopefully it will get better as time goes by! Mikey looks really good, he looks like he is in heaven with those "Nasty" weapons he is holding and that are in front of him, YICKS!!! LOL. Its nice to see he is enjoying his training, those Marines crack me up with there hard looking faces they make when posing for the camera! There are some good humorous shots in there, hope you all enjoy!

November 12 A Day out with the kids...Well today Art had to work, so the kids and i are going to the movies with my friend Jennifer and her kids to go see "Chicken little" that should be fun,
LOL....Anyways heard from Mikey today, he sounds pretty good...He is not going to be coming home for Thanksgiving and i am feeling kinda numb about it  . I am sad, but i guess it hasn't hit me ...Mike will be spending Thanksgiving with my sister Julie and her family, that should be fun for him and them. I did tell him that my Thanksgiving is ruin now that i know he can't come and he agreed. he feels the sameway i do. His birthday is around the corner...a day after Thanksgiving the 25th. Hmmmmm, what to buy him?? Not to sure what i am going to buy him for his birthday? He did say he has some awesome pictures that he took well hes been training. I am so excited to get them! I miss him very much. I was really looking forward to seeing him! He mention he wasn't sure if he would be able to make it for Christmas as well. Its just not going to be the same for me. To be honiest, i don't want to celebrate Christmas, if i could just do away with it, i would. I know the real meaning of Christmas and thats all that matters. I just would like my family together, thats all. Well i hope going out with my kids and my friend to the movies will help me not focus on the bad news....I will be posting the picture's Mikey sends me here in a couple of days.Hugs,
October 31 Happy Halloween!!!My kids are sooooo thrilled and can't wait to go trick or treating.
We had a blast last night carving our pumpkins and all! I think this is one of my favorite holidays even though this year i didn't put my halloween decoration up. My intentions were there, but just never really followed through. Art and i are going to take the kids this evening to our regular route that we go on when taking our kids trick or treating. Eric is going as a Zombie, Carissa is going as a Princess, Ray will be going as Elvis, lol. Can you believe Ray still goes trick or treating!!! If Mikey was here with us he would be going as well, last year people were giving Mikey candy, but they all had something to say to him, like....I didn't know that kids with mustahes went trick or treating, they were just giving him a hard time, but yet still giving him candy. Kids, they are just too funny! Well i wanted to wish everyone a safe and Happy Halloween!! Hugs,
October 29 Machine GunnerWow, talk about cold and gloomy!! Winter is here
. Me don't like winter, but oh well gotta make the best of it, right? Got a call from Mikey today...he sounded very happy! He got his MOS which is 0331 Machine Gunner! He was very excited about it. He said he got to shoot an AT-4 Rocket launcher and remote mines etc.... He sounded like a kid in a candy store. The only thing he doesn't like is when they turn the lights on @ 4am, then he said he wishes he was home, LOL. I don't blame him, who likes to get up at the butt crack of dawn, not i. He talked to the kids on phone..he even talked to Ray, now you know he really misses us! hehehe...Anyways, he hasn't been able to get to the store to buy a camera, cuz he has been training through his weekends, which is a bummer! October 24 Talked to Mikey tonight !!I talked with Mike tonight for the first time since he started training on Oct 16th
 . Mikey said he is soooo loving his training! He said he should be graduating School of infantry on Dec 9, 2005!!  Mike sounded really happy, which made my night, but we all miss him so much! The really good news is...he will be coming home from thanksgiving for four days!  Oh happy day!! I will be posting some picture's of Mike during training, just as soon as he developes them and sends me the cd. I can't wait!! We love you Mikey!!!!Hugs,
October 17 Mike is starting SOI "School of Infantry"!!Today Mike got picked up by Bravo Company to start his training at Camp Pendleton!! He will be doing SOI "School of Infantry" for 2 month from today. I spoke with him briefly last night and he said he is very excited to finally start training! I am excited for him, but on the other hand very nervous, cuz its just one step closer to his deployment to Iraq. I know that my son is ready for whatever they put in front of him, but i so miss him and just want one more hug.
Mike sent me some recent picture's of him...I was so so excited to get to see updated photos!!! I have posted some here on this blog, but i have posted 50 more under my photos, check'em out...Had to share !!
